Meanwhile, an article from the Canadian Press via the Edmonton Sun claims Bush will admit to mistakes in the Iraqi campaign, in an effort to attract support for his newfound "surge" strategy. The mistakes: [1] they didn't send enough troops in the first place, and [2] those troops weren't allowed to shoot everything that moved, everywhere and always.
President George W. Bush will tell Americans on Wednesday night that he will send 21,500 additional American troops to Iraq, acknowledging that it was a mistake earlier not to have more American and Iraqi troops fighting the war.Hopefully with more troops on the ground and less restrictive rules of engagement they will be able to kill everyone in the whole country before November of 2008 and then Bush can get us out of Iraq not only with all the oil but also with a peaceful settlement.
Seeking support for a retooled strategy to win support for the unpopular conflict, the president will acknowledge that the rules of engagement were flawed because certain neighbourhoods in Baghdad were put off limits by the government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, White House counsellor Dan Bartlett said.
“Military operations sometimes were handcuffed by political interference by the Iraqi leadership,” he said.
And that's why I'm dancing tonight!
Surge is the word, is the word that you heard
It's got groove it's got meaning
Surge is the time, is the place is the motion
Surge is the way we are feeling
Surge is the word...
